VOLUNTEER WITH US….

 and stay for free!

In 2015 we launched our Volunteer Scheme at Edinburgh Festival Camping which has proven to be a great success. It works really simply: a volunteer comes and stays with us for free in exchange for 3 hours work a day.

When you volunteer with us you become part of the team and also have the opportunity to learn some new skills, have a go at some different types of jobs and also to have fun with it. You also only have to work for 3 hours a day so you’ll have the remaining 21 hours to take in Edinburgh and all of the Festivals.

We have a number of 2016 (and 2015!) volunteers returning this summer so we must be doing something right!

Edinburgh Festival Camping Volunteers

Before coming to Edinburgh Festival Camping I was travelling and I was just thinking that it would be a good deal to come and volunteer, and have time to see the shows...

Everything was perfect... I'll surely come back this year!

~ Marine, 2016 volunteer

WHAT DUTIES WILL VOLUNTEERS BE CARRYING OUT?

We are recruiting a selection of volunteers who are available either for all or some of the event to help with the following duties:

  • Pitching and taking down tents
  • Helping out on the check in desk
  • Keeping the campsite clean and tidy
  • Keeping pre-pitched tents clean and tidy
  • Helping campers – whether it be carrying kit or providing information
  • Helping to serve breakfast
  • There may be other adhoc duties but the above will make up the bulk of this

We require volunteers to work over our peak times on the campsite during check out from 7am-11am, cleaning shifts from 10.30am and on check in from 2pm, with occasional additional cover at other times. The earliest shift will start at breakfast from 7am, and the latest shift available being at 9pm in our Giant Tipi. Volunteers will be expected to carry out one 3 hour shift per day, and the shifts will rotate so everyone gets to do a bit of everything and at different times through the day.

We require volunteers from the 30th July to 16th August, and from 17th – 30th August 2017. Please get in touch if you would like to join us across these dates!

Group inductions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and information packs will be sent out via email before you arrive.

We request to anyone who would like to volunteer for 5 days, that they please arrive on a Thursday.

I liked being able to visit the fringe either before or after your shift and the flexibility of the shifts to accommodate this...

Loved volunteers night, it was great to socialise and get to know the other volunteers better.

~ Lynne, 2015 & 2016 volunteer
