About Campingninja and Our Team

Campingninja creates lovely, welcoming campsites with great atmospheres at large sporting, music and arts events.

We provide a home for fans, volunteers and performers / artists / workers to stay at a price which won’t break the bank, in a location which is easily accessible for the events themselves.

What we’ve experienced when people stay with us is that the campsite itself becomes a lovely community full of people who are all bonded together as they all have a common interest and passion for the event surrounding it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the camping, and in some respects just as much as completing my Olympic role. It was like having a ‘family’ while living in London; the staff were utterly fantastic! To coin a phrase, I had the time of my life in London this summer, and feel so honoured and proud to have been a part of it. I have had experiences and made friendships that will last a lifetime.” Hilary

Meet the Campingninja Team....

At Campingninja HQ we have a small and dedicated team who work year round to make sure our event campsites are the best we can be. Your experience, from browsing and booking right up until you get home after a great stay, is the most important thing to us... We're looking forward to seeing you in Edinburgh.

Geoff Vaughan

Operations and Ideas

Geoff is Operations guru and knows everything about site planning, h & s, and logistics. He loves to muck in on site and you may also find him in the camp kitchen cooking a signature dish! He is also full of new ideas and constantly finding ways to improve what we do. Geoff also has 2 young sons which keep him busy when he's not planning campsites!

Rhian Evans

All the Technical Stuff

Web, design, bookings etc (anything techy really) is what Rhian does. She also runs all aspects of the company with Geoff Vaughan. Rhian can also be found getting involved in day-to-day activities on site including managing the pre-pitched ``hotel``. When not doing that she's running around after her three boys and playing rugby!

Sarah Whittington

Customer Services Guru

Helping our customers, running our social media, recruiting volunteers and helping plan for the next Edinburgh Festival Camping is what keeps Sarah busy. Sarah joined the team in 2017 after loving her volunteering experience with Campingninja in 2016. When Sarah's not doing this she can be found marathon training or looking for mountains to climb!

Other Events we’ve created the Campingninja Experience: London 2012 Olympics, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Tough Mudder UK Events, Bristol Balloon Fiesta, Mountain Mayhem 24 Mountain Bike Marathon, Jodrell Bank Music Festival, Brisfest Music Festival, UEFA Champions League Finals 2017, Le Mans 2017 and many more….

After winning the TTG ‘The Big Idea’ and the backing of 4 industry Travel Investors, Campingninja set about shaking up the camping industry by introducing the 1st booking platform specifically designed for campers and campsites.

The next step was to take their knowledge of the camping industry and overseas operations to major sporting and outdoor events around the UK and Europe. Leading up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games the pair came up with the idea of setting up one campsite for ticket holders, Gamesmakers and workforce contractors, providing a fantastically unique campsite and affordable accommodation, whilst contributing to grass root sports.

After a week of selling it became clear a 2nd campsite would be needed. Then a 3rd. Then a 4th. In total Campingninja created, marketed, took bookings for and operated 13 campsites simultaneously during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. With campsites situated in challenging locations in London, the South East and Weymouth the team is extremely proud of its expertise in operations, marketing, planning, licensing, working with local communities and creating much needed funds for community sports clubs.

The next project for Campingninja was to create a Volunteer village and Fan village for the Glasgow Games in the Summer of 2014, which ended up accommodating over 8000 fans and volunteers!

We are excited to have created and operate the first ever Festival camp site dedicated to the Edinburgh Festivals during  the month of August. Edinburgh Festival Camping accommodates performers and visitors alike. Now in it’s 6th year, we have an established Fringe Venue on site with daily entertainment, a cafe and bar and a team of dedicated staff to make your Edinburgh Festival experience memorable!
