Hello friends! Happy New Year! We hope you’ve had a lovely Christmas and a well-deserved break!

Here’s the latest news and updates on the Edinburgh Festivals 2020 and of course, Edinburgh Festival Camping too!

Date: 7th – 31st August 2020
Where: over 300 venues dotted all over the city!

While the Festivals themselves don’t begin until August, the first shows have already been submitted to the Fringe’s programme. On the 30th January, the first shows will be announced online – followed by monthly releases until the full printed programme is released on Wednesday 10th June. Programme stockists can be found on from the edfringe.com website, or you can pre-order your programme for home delivery here! Delivery fee applies.

Date: 7th – 31st August 2020
Where: at a handful of venues, such as Edinburgh Playhouse, Assembly Hall, Usher Hall and The Lyceum. Most venues are within the city centre.

The Edinburgh International Festival is a world-class performing arts festival. It’s programme will be released on Wednesday 18 March 2020 but book quickly! Most shows only have one or two showings and you’ll need to move fast if you want to secure your tickets. Expect theatre, opera, dance, orchestras and storytelling. Two performances have been announced – the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra and the National Theatre of Scotland’s Medea. Pre-order your free programme now.

Date: 7th – 29st August 2020
Where: Edinburgh Castle Esplanade

This year’s Tattoo has been called ‘The Platinum Edition’, celebrating it’s 70th year! For the last 20+ years, the Tattoo has sold out every night, with approximately 220,000 people in attendance over the course of the month. Considered the best show in the world, this really is one for the bucket-list. If you’re keen to attend the Tattoo in 2020, you can book your tickets here.

Remember, on Saturdays there are two evening performances at 7.15pm and at 10.30pm. The 10.30pm performance concludes with an extended fireworks display. To help people make their way home, Edinburgh Trams run all through the night on Saturdays!

Date: 15th – 31st August 2020
Where: Charlotte Square Gardens

Don’t underestimate this Festival – it’s not as well known as the International Festival or the Fringe, but the Edinburgh Book Festival is a reknowned literary festival, only second to the Hay Festival. It has been drawing in some of the best loved authors and childrens authors since it’s inception in 1983 – becoming an annual event in 1997. Every year, over 900 events are enjoyed by visitors of all ages. The programme will be announced in June. Check out more information and recordings of previous year’s events on their website here.

Date: 6th – 31st August 2020
Where: Edinburgh Festival Camping, Hallyards Road, Ingliston, EH28 8NZ

We’re back for our 6th year at the Royal Highland Centre, creating and providing a fantastic campsite experience for our customers. As we watched accommodation prices grow, founders Rhian and Geoff felt that they needed to create a place where visitors and performers could stay without breaking the bank, and enjoy and take part in these awesome festivals.

At our campsite, you’ll find squeaky clean, top quality facilities, friendly staff, a community atmosphere and three Giant Tipis where you can socialise, play games, watch free Fringe performances, take part in Pub Quizzes and get something to eat and drink at our cafe and bar.

Our breakfast service runs until 10.30am, our cafe and bar are open from 12 until late. Hot home cooked evening meals were introduced last summer and were a hit. We’re looking forward to trying out some more of our culinary skills to bring you more hearty, homemade and budget friendly meals this August. Please note gluten free and vegan dietary requirements are catered for!

We are always trying our best to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We encourage you to bring your own cup and get a discount in our cafe, drink the tap water – it’s delicious! – and use our recycling points to ensure our waste is recycled! We also welcome you to bring your own bowls, plates and cutlery to our cafe and reuse any cups we give you.

Edinburgh Festival Camping will be open from 6th – 31st August 2020. We recommend booking Electric Meadow Pitches and Bell Tents early due to limited availability.

Electric Meadow Pitches are already selling fast. If you cannot find availability for the date you want, please get in touch by calling us on 01315 641405.

50% OFF bell tent hire for stays on 6th August 2020. Limited time only.
