About This Project

The Edinburgh Mela is Scotland’s annual huge celebration of multi-cultural diverse performances of music and dance. The word ‘Mela’ means to ‘gather’ and that’s certainly what you’ll find people doing here – around 25,000 people will gather to enjoy the amazing array of colour and sound that Leith Park is transformed into.


If you have never yet been to Edinburgh Mela you’ll want it on  your list for 2020. This is the perfect festival for families, a complete day out where all the family can immerse themselves in the unique multi-cultural atmosphere created at this community orientated event.  Not only will you find amazing world music and dance, the Bazaar atmosphere will tantalise your taste buds with delicious world cuisine, and market stalls for you to browse the eclectic mix of clothes, fabrics, jewellery and crafts from across the globe.


The Mela is a magnet for thousands of people of all ages from all over the Globe to mix together an enjoy truly spectacular colourful cultural diversity.


For the kids the  Mela Kidzone is a must attend! Children can embark on an truly inspiring journey around the world by taking part in performances and workshops.  A simply brilliant educational yet thoroughly enjoyable and interactive experience.
