Pre-Pitched Tents at Edinburgh Festival Camping
Pre-Pitched Tents are a convenient and hassle free way to help you make the most of your time whilst still saving money at the Edinburgh Festivals. But I bet you have loads of questions. Haven’t camped before? Don’t know what to bring? Don’t know what you need? No worries, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a bit more information about our Pre-Pitched Camping options and things you may or may not want to bring with you…
1. OUR PRE-PITCHED CAMPING VILLAGE
Our Pre-Pitched Camping Village is set up in the Countryside area of our campsite. The Pre-Pitched Village is set up next to the lake and along the tree-lined back wall of the campsite. There are tarmac paths all around the site and guests are welcome to drive on to unload and pick up when they leave. The car park is just outside the main gate, just 2 minute walk away.
We offer 2 Person (Twin) Tents with twin air beds, 2 Person (Double) Tents with a double air bed and 4 Person Pre-Pitched Tents with two sleeping compartments, each with a double air mattress.
2. WHAT’S IS INCLUDED IN THE TENTS?
These tents have a really simple set up. We provide the tent and the air mattress, saving you the hassle of pitching your own tent – and not forgetting the luggage space! We do not provide bedding, but we do have Sleeping Packs (£12 for a sleeping bag and pillow) and towels (£3 each) available for hire from Check In. If you expect you’ll need these from us, please let us know so we can reserve them for you. There is not electricity in the tents, but there is a device charging area in the tipis.
3. SO WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
This largely depends on what your plans are and how much time you think you’ll need at the campsite. For the sleeping part, you’ll need bedding, a torch and a towel for the showers. We also recommend warm pajamas – it is Scotland! If you’re going to spend most of your time in the city, then you can buy breakfast in the tipis and not worry about anything else.
If you want to spend time on the campsite, you might want to bring camping chairs or a BBQ. There isn’t much space for BBQing in the Pre-Pitched Camping Village but we’ve got lots of green spaces including a very picturesque spot in front of the lake where you can set up. If you decide to BBQ, there is a BBQ ash bin by the main refuse area.
Or you’re welcome to use our camp kitchen with cooking hobs and pots and pans. We do recommend bringing your own cups, plates, bowls & camping cutlery.
4. CAN I BRING THE KIDS BIKES AND GAMES?
Yes, absolutely! Bring whatever you’d normally bring with you – this is your holiday. As I mentioned above, this part of the campsite has limited vehicle access and easy paths for children to cycle around – and it’s not that big anyway, they won’t get lost! We have some indoor and outdoor games available too; board games, footballs, bat and ball games and a badminton net.
5. HOW FAR ARE THE SHOWERS?
Not far at all – a 2 minute walk. The showers are in permanent fixed buildings, with a toilet block in the front and the showers at the back. These are set up as male and female blocks. There are separate toilet blocks with disabled access loos by the tipis.
6. WHAT ARE THE TIPIS AND WHO CAN USE THEM?
We think of the tipis like a lounge or living room, and we invite you to too. It’s the main social space, you can buy food here from 7.30am until late most days (we have evening meal specials every night except Tuesdays), or you can bring your own food in if you don’t want to eat in your tent. It is a licenced area so unfortunately you cannot bring your own alcohol into the tipis, but you’re welcome to bring your own alcohol into the campsite. The tipis house our Fringe Venue 403 along with our licenced bar and phone-charging area.
We work really hard to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, so this space is for all and any non-age appropriate entertainment is held onto until after bedtime! Under 16s are welcome in the tipis until 11pm.
7. IS THERE WIFI?
There is free WiFi in the tipis and the undercover area by Check In.
